Aperture and Depth of Field
The aperture is the unit the measures and defines the size of the opening in the lens that can be adjusted to control the amount of light. The size of the aperture is measured in F-spot. The smaller the F- spot number; the greater the amount of light that passes through the lens. If the aperture is higher it will make the shatter speed slower.
Here you can see that I have set the f spot to the lowest I can and I have taken these images two home fragrance oils.
