Digital Montage

Montage

Montages are created in many different ways for example editing, scanning, sticking on etc. There is no rule you have to follow to create a montage. You can use any images you want to create a montage for example a portrait, historical events, family images, still life etc.

The montage I created for my Unit 27 Assignment was a still life images I had taken in my college studio.

Lemons and Rocks

My montage has been created from from one of the images I had taken in my college studio for the first time using lights. Unfortunately I was unable to scan an image that I wanted on my montage.

Although I have created this montage I don't think I would ever create a montage again the reason for this is because I always like keeping my images natural.

Interior Brief

Noorin & Mo Wedding- Interior Brief

I was asked to shoot a wedding for Noorin and Mo which would be on the 22nd of November 2012. I was told that my location would be Nawab Restaurant in Manchester. As always I first started to research on a lot of photographers to see the sort of images they take of couples on there special day.

I received a phone call off the bride Noorin on 29 October 2012 at 07.00pm in the evening whether I will be able to make it and capture the special day, I was very happy to tell her I will be able to make it and be very happy to do the photography for her special day.

Preparation for the wedding shoot.
Date of Shoot - 22th November 2012
Time - 11.00am till 05.00pm.

Here are a few things I kept in mind on what i wanted to capture:-
  • Bride and groom
  • The wedding cake
  • The stage
  • Family and friends
  • Flowers
  • Table Deco etc.
Test shoot

I wasn't able to do a set shoot day before there wedding so I did the test shoot before all the guests arrived. Here are a few test shoot images.

The Wedding Images

Positive points of the wedding-
  • I successfully arrived on time and was able to get a few test shoot images.
  • The cake was on display so I was able to capture the cake before the bride and groom cut it.
  • I was clearly informed by a member of the brides family who there special guests are, what time the grooms family will be arriving and what time the ceremony will start.
Negative points of the wedding-
  • I was unable to capture bride while sat in her car, before she got out of it because of the bad weather.
  • The lighting in the restaurant was very bad.
Improvements for next time-

To meet the bride and groom before there special day and not to discuss the wedding photography on the phone. To allow them to see the sort of work I do and to allow them to discuss what is the most special thing they do on their wedding day, and what sort of images they would like. I would be be able to show them and price them accordingly. To allow plenty of time for the families to sit with the bride and groom and allow me to take the images.

Overall I think it was a good wedding to shoot although there are all lot of improvements to be made for next time.

External Brief

Fashion/ Portrait

I decided to do a fashion/portrait for my external brief. My location was in Rochdale, Water groves. I first started to research on a lot of photographers to see the locations they have used, although I had already decided where I wanted to do my Eternal shoot.

I had made mind maps to help me plan the shoots.

Here are a few things I kept in mind-

I had to make a cast call for Models and Make up Artists.
Had to each an eye on the weather, the time of day I wanted to shoot was sunset.
I had to remember to charge my camera
the models were quite happy to bring the outfits with them.

Putting all this together I knew what I wanted out of this shoot, I would be very happy if I get what I want out of this shoot. I would the models to just feel relaxed while doing the shoot with me.

I had spoken to the models and made them aware of the shoot that I wanted to do and they were quite happy to help although they did ask me before the shoot that if they would be given the images. I was happy to give them the images. No model release form was signed as I was reassured from the models that it was no need and that I could trust them.

I told the Models and the Make up artists the following information about the shoot-

The shoot will take place on the 20/10/2012.
Time 4.30pm till 8.00pm.
Shoot will be in Water groves Rochdale.
The Make up Artist and models were first told by to come to a place to get there make up and hair done.

The shoot

The shoot started after 4.30pm and finished just after 8pm.
Canon 500D, f/5.6, 1/60s, ISO 400, F/l 45mm

Canon 500D, f/3.5, 1/200s, ISO 800, F/l 21mm

Canon 500D, f/4, 1/00s, ISO 400, F/l 25mm

Canon 500D, f/5.6, 1/30s, ISO 800, F/l 48mm

Canon 500D, f/5, 1/40s, ISO 800, F/l 40mm

Canon 500D, f/4.5, 1/50s, ISO 800, F/l 31mm

Canon 500D, f/5, 1/20s, ISO 1600, F/l 41mm

Canon 500D, f/5, 1/15s, ISO 1600, F/l 21mm

Canon 500D, f/4, 1/60s, ISO 400, F/l 30mm

Canon 500D, f/3.5, 1/100s, ISO 400, F/l 24mm

Plus and negative points about my shoot:-

I was successful in making the models feel relaxed while doing the shoot with me. They had a really good time modelling for me. The weather was great and the sunset looked really beautiful. I did have a few problems with the shoot as I had not released that I did not have the models facing the sun, and that I was having a few problems with the naturel day light. All the images that I submitted were all edited and the resolution was set to 300 for print.

Overall I think I have not done to bad as this was my first ever fashion shoot, there are a few things that I will have to keep in mind, please prefer to my plus and negative points to see the changes I will always make to improve my shoot for the next time.

Caroline White

Caroline White

Caroline White is a Contemporary, Creative Photographer. She a photographer that is known to take precious moments of the bride and grooms day and therefore they are able to take a lot at their beautiful images time and time again.

Her work has been publicly displayed in many cities throughout the UK and her wonderful work has been published in magazines for the public to see.

It is wonderful how Caroline is able to manage all the wedding and within take the sentimental images within a wedding. Below are some of my favourite images.

Make-up Images

Make-up Images

As explained in my previous post titled Rehan Siddique Photographer. I love taking images of a various things like:- wedding venues, people within the wedding, the clothes people wear and the makeup artist them self and the make-up they use. I have taken a few images of make-up products used by make-up artists.

Here is one of the images I have taken of the make up the artists have used. She uses a large variety of products such as MAC, Charles Fox- Kryolan make up, Estee Lauder, YSL and etc.

Here in this image you can see that the MAC brush and the blusher is the focus in this image and the eye shadows and the brush has been focused out.

Rehan Siddique

Rehan Siddique
Firstly I am going to research about wedding photographers. The reason why I am going to research about wedding/ fashion photographers is because I would like to see the fashion in a wedding as what sort of clothing they are wearing, the venue, the stage, the timing of the day etc.

Rehan Siddique is one of the people I inspire the reason why I inspire him is clearly because of the photography he does. He has been a photographer for the past 6 years. His photography includes wedding, fashion, commercial and lifestyle photography. Here I will show you some of images and tell you why I like the images.

I really like the way he has made the brides shoes the centre of attention and blurred everything at the back.

Here I like the way Rehan has made the bride lean against the mirror and has again just made her face the centre of attention. You are able to see the mirror image but again it’s not as clear as the face and again this is another one of my favourite images.
